Bob Ferguson - sad news

Butch Greene called me this morning to report that Bob Ferguson died today in the early morning. Our hearts go out to his wife Shirley, and the rest of the family.

Bob had been in the hospital having suffered a fall and a heart attack in early June.

We will post details of any plans or arrangements as they are made known.

Seaside Fiesta - THANKS to Coronado/Mainland volunteers.

Butch - I'm send this to thank you and everyone who helped out at the Seaside Fiesta. We need to be seen by the merchants and the city as a valuable part of what's happening on Flagler. I know what you all did was a big first step, and I hope everyone feels it was worth the effort.

Cheers Bill B

Liz - I thought I'd send on our immediate comments about the Sea-Side Festival.
GREAT!
The passers-by on Flagler seemed to enjoy our "show and tell", plus getting involved and having some active fun playing shuffleboard.  The lights being on would be a great attraction, and I'm sure that helped to help the party on Flagler as well as the play on the shuffleboard courts. There was probably some music nearby, and that would add to the "fun" atmosphere too.

Butch Greene did a great job from our side - getting people for preparation, execution, and cleanup - a worthwhile effort from the sounds of his latest email. Some points he made:
    • 19 club representatives and friends did a fantastic job, both in demonstrating our sport and in coaching a large number of onlookers who decided they wanted to give it a try or have a lesson.
    •  We had 7 courts (6-12) going full blast from 4:45 to 8:30.
    •  The lights were on from 6:30 to 9:00 and really were bright.
    •  I'd be surprised if we don't have at least 4 or 5 new members as a result of the Fiesta.
More later, but I hope this quick summary helps you to be able to prove the value contributed to the Sea-Side Festival by Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club.
